It's a total campaign on the part of the Republicans.
First, elect a president to appoint right-wingers to the Supreme Court - Roberts and Alito. Done.
Next, get a SC ruling that corporations are citizens and can spend as much money on political activity as they want to. Done.
We saw what happened in Wisconsin. Ohio has a more restrictive bill that passed the Ohio Senate March 1 and will soon be voted on in the Ohio House. Idaho has already approved a bill to limit collective bargaining by school teachers. Iowa has a bill pending. Michigan has passed both a House and a Senate bill giving the state emergency powers to break union contracts.
In Indiana the Senate passed a bill restricting organized labor, while House members have left the state to avoid voting on the measure. New Hampshire has Republican majorities in both houses and a right-to-work bill on the table prohibiting collective bargaining. Kansas has passed a bill outlawing employee deductions for union dues. Tennessee has a Republican backed bill pending to end teachers rights to negotiate working conditions.
The following states have also introduced legislation within the past week to limit public worker collective bargaining, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Washington, Alaska and Arizona.
It's easy to see where this is going. Democrats get their largest contributions from labor unions. Wipe them out.
Then, go after the voters and make it hard or impossible for Democratic voters to vote.
All 27 of the following states have voter ID requirements that are stricter than what HAVA, P.L. 107-252 [Help America Vote Act] mandates. More than 700 bills have been introduced in 46 states to place restrictions on voters.
The following states require voter ID: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Washington.
The following states require voter photo ID: Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Oklahoma*, and South Dakota.
The Republican National Committee makes the following statement on their website "We oppose interventionist policies that put the federal government in control of industry and allow it to pick winners and losers in the marketplace."
Apparently they have no objections whatsoever to interventionist policies that put them in control of your life.
